Coalition Calls for Continued Investment in Global HIV/AIDS Programs

APA joined 32 other non-governmental organizations of the Global AIDS Policy Partnership (GAPP) in an Oct. 25, 2013 letter (PDF, 21KB) that called for sustained United States investment in global AIDS programs, including the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). PEPFAR helps to prevent new HIV infections and save the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS around the world. Program investments also help alleviate the global burden of disease in developing countries. The letter targeted the Senate and House appropriations committees, as they consider future spending levels.

APA engages in strong, ongoing advocacy to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the needs of those living with the diseases. To participate in these efforts to inform policy through scientifically-based research, please consider joining the APA Public Policy Action Network.
