APA Provides Written Statement for Critical Congressional Hearing on Child Abuse

APA’s Public Interest and Science Government Relations Offices worked with APA member Anthony Mannarino, PhD, to submit written testimony (PDF, 265KB) to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee on Children and Families for a December 13, 2011, hearing on Breaking the Silence on Child Abuse: Protection, Prevention, Intervention, and Deterrence. The testimony addressed effects of abuse on children, mandatory reporting requirements, and evidence-based treatment to help children and families recover from the trauma of abuse. Dr. Mannarino is Director of the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents, Vice-President, Department of Psychiatry, Allegheny General Hospital, and Professor of Psychiatry, Drexel University College of Medicine.
