John McKee Trust (also known as Trust Under Will of John McKee)
Applicants must not be over age 19 years at the time of the application, and must meet all of the following criteria:
(a) fatherless boys (i.e., the father is actually dead or has been declared missing* by a competent authority) of any race; [*"missing" may include permanently absent or dysfunctional];
(b) in need of financial assistance; and
(c) native to the five-county Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia). Preference is given to those desirous of obtaining a naval education and training.
In the fall of each year, application forms are sent to the guidance office of every accredited secondary school that the Committee has been able to identify in the five-county Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. When the applications and supporting documents are received (due by February 1st), they are reviewed and scored according to criteria established by the Committee. The highest scoring applicants are then selected to be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee in early April for grants to begin the following fall.
