CAPF Guardian Scholars supports ambitious former foster youth in their efforts to gain a university, community college or vocational school education. The goal is to provide each student with personalized support in areas such as academic advising, housing, and mentoring. Emancipated foster youth have unique needs that most adults are unaware of because of their challenging life experiences and their lack of a supportive family structure. These life challenges are often insurmountable without adult mentoring, educational opportunities, financial support and caring role models.
Former foster youth of San Diego, CA. The student must have been in the San Diego Foster Care System and must be enrolled as a full-time student. The applicant must maintain a 2.0 GPA, must file for financial aid, have a part-time job, and submit a mid-term progress report. Each student must sign a terms of agreement, outlining their responsibilities as a scholarships recipient.
